Original Press Release:

New Bluetooth-Qualified Lighting Controls from Hubbell Building Automation

Austin, Texas -- Hubbell Building Automation is pleased to announce that their new wirelessly-configured lighting controls are now Bluetooth® Qualified. This simplifies remote commissioning. Hubbell Building Automation is a provider of occupancy sensors and lighting controls with a commitment to innovation.

Hubbell Building Automation has opted to employ Bluetooth-enabled smartphone apps as the preferred method of human interface for the company's latest networked controls. Because millions of handheld devices already use it, Bluetooth has become a de facto standard. Adopting Bluetooth capitalizes on the assets most available -- the phones and tablets that end users already have.

Configuring and managing individual luminaires or entire lighting systems becomes easy with HBA's free apps. Multiple devices can be added for free. The system essentially becomes future-proof.

Initially two HBA product lines will utilize Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) two-way communications. The NX™ series Room Controller adds the capability via a plug-in module. The NX app will be available for Android™ and iOS® devices on their respective app stores in 3Q2015. The upcoming IFC series product has the compact Bluetooth radio built into a unified occupancy and daylight sensor head. The IFC app is available now on the Google Play store.

The company has joined the Bluetooth Special Interest Group to ensure that NX and IFC products are properly tested and Bluetooth-qualified. Product availability begins in 3Q2015.
