Lighthouse LED Screens are Just the Job for Toronto's Virgin Festival

USA - 17 October, 2007 - Now into its second year, Virgin's V-Fest in the city of Toronto attracted 35,000 fans. Braving long waits at the ferry didn't deter the crowds who were rewarded with V's ubiquitous top class line-up including The Killers, Bjork, The Smashing Pumpkins and Arctic Monkeys, and Lighthouse Technologies' LED screens formed an integral part of the action.

Supplied by Toronto-based MVI MultiVision Inc, two R16 16mm screens, measuring 12.4m2 each, were positioned stage left and right with two secondary R16 screens measuring 3m2 each situated beneath the main screen. Processing was via a Lighthouse LIP-SX Interface Processor, Snell & Wilcox Supervisor and Folsom ScreenPro and ImagePro for image scaling.

"The main screens were displaying live images from content supplied from camera positions which were provided by Canadian TV network MUCH Music," explains MVI's Vice President, Sales, Chris Parry. "They also showed sponsorship commercials provided by Heavy.com, whilst the secondary screens were used for live text messaging from the crowd by MyThumb Interactive."

"MVI supplies LED screens to several events produced by Toronto-based Emerge Entertainment," continues Parry. "These include Toronto Virgin Fest 2006, Vancouver Virgin Fest 2007 and this year's Toronto Virgin Fest. We've been using Lighthouse products since 2000 and the 16mm in particular from 2004 onwards. Our client was very pleased with the picture quality and performance of the screens, as was also the case on the previous two Virgin Mobile Music Festivals."

"The fact that MVI has been using these screens for a number of years is a great testament to the longevity of our products," comments Lighthouse Sales Manager, Eastern US Region, Joe Lapchick. "This is something that is extremely important to us at Lighthouse as it's essential for our rental partners to get a good return on their investment."
