New "14mm Resolution" Light Curtain Ideal for Point of Operation Safeguarding of Hazardous Equipment

FREMONT, CA - Scientific Technologies, Inc. (STI) introduces the 14mm resolution version of its popular MiniSafe MS4600 Series safety light curtain, for an even broader range of detection capabilities. The system is a true "two-box" design consisting of a transmitter and receiver. No separate control box is required since the control reliable circuitry is contained in the receiver and transmitter, and no cable is required between the transmitter and receiver.

This 14mm safety light curtain can be configured for point-of-operation guarding applications. The 14mm and 20mm versions are available in standard segmented lengths from 260mm (10 in.) to 1390mm (55 in.) The 30mm version is available in segments from 350mm (14 in.) to 2095mm (83 in.), ideal for perimeter guarding. For ease of alignment the MS4600 series features STI's patented Individual Beam Indicators. The system also comes with in-line connector cables, which allow the mounting of transmitter and receiver segments in crowded locations where space is at a premium.

Additional features include MPCE monitoring, exact channel select, floating blanking, and two PNP safety outputs. A DeviceNet interface or Machine Test Signal is also available. The MS4600 is third party certified as a Type 4 device to the rigorous requirements of IE 61496-1, -2, the international standard on active opto-electric protective devices.

With headquarters in the heart of Silicon Valley, STI was founded over 30 years ago and employs more than 330 people. STI has been selected twice by Forbes and three times by Business Week as one of the "world's best small companies." STI's safety products are used to protect workers around machinery, automated equipment and industrial robots.
