itaas Announces its Session-Based Application Development Library for Cable

- Slashes Development Time for On Demand and Switched Video Applications; Speeds Time to Market -

ATLANTA, Ga., June 16, 2005 - itaas Inc., provider of an innovative and compelling suite of video on demand (VOD) products, and the only provider of end-to-end iTV solutions in the digital video industry, today announced the launch of its application development library for session-based, VOD applications and other switched video services for the cable industry. itaas' DSM-CC (Digital Storage Media Command and Control Specs) Library(TM) provides application developers with building blocks to support the rapid development of their on-demand and switched applications.

"As VOD in the digital cable space continues to ramp, more and more vendors are working to create new and exciting switched applications to help operators increase the appeal of their on-demand services to consumers, and to alleviate the resulting bandwidth congestion. Currently, these applications could take months to develop, test and deploy properly. With our DSM-CC Library, developed specifically for session-based applications, application developers have a comprehensive library of tools to significantly accelerate development time and time to market for these applications," said itaas' Chief Operating Officer Jaspal Bhasin.

The vendor neutral DSM-CC Library is available in both C++ and Java versions, supporting DSM-CC session protocols for managing interactive and continuous feed sessions. The class library supports session setup, release and indication messages for the client, network (SRM), as well as the server for VOD or other switched video services. It has been fully tested on Solaris/SPARC, Linux x86 and Win32 platforms, and complies with the latest protocols. It includes DSM-CC messages and resource descriptors with support for the Pegasus SSP 2.3 specification.

"The DSM-CC Library helps rapidly create infrastructure solutions for emerging services, as BigBand Networks is experiencing in delivering our switched broadcast solution to the market," said Ran Oz, CTO of BigBand Networks, a leading provider of network platforms for video, voice and data services. "itaas is led by experienced iTV engineers who know what it takes to deliver advanced multimedia services, and is a key partner in BigBand Networks' switched broadcast efforts."
