Liberty Technologies Launches 'Metropolitan Hotzones' Using Navini's Pre- Mobile WiMAX Gear

Pre-WiMAX/WiFi Combination Enables 'Network In A Box' for Restaurants, Hotels, Etc

RICHARDSON, Texas, Aug. 29 / -- Liberty Technologies has launched the first WiFi hotspot network that comes in a box, using Navini's pre-mobile WiMAX gear for high speed Broadband Wireless access. The enclosure includes the Navini modem for backbone and a WiFi access point, and also serves as marketing front. Liberty has already deployed an extensive Ripwave(TM) MX network across Panama City and has been delivering personal broadband to consumers directly using equipment from Navini Networks, Inc., the most experienced provider of non-line-of-sight, zero-install(TM) portable wireless broadband network equipment in the world.

Liberty, one of Navini's most innovative and long time customers, recently completed successful field testing of Navini's new industry first dual-mode base station, Ripwave(TM) MX with Smart WiMAX(TM) with excellent results. "We are excited to move to 16e having seen the future with confidence from Navini," said Moises Abadi, President and CEO, Liberty Technologies.

"This is an innovative use of technology that allows rapid WiFi wireless Internet deployment around Panama. Thanks to it, we were able to deploy 100 hotspots in less than 2 months," stated Abadi. "In addition, we utilize the VLAN feature to extend the prepaid Hotzone platform into homes using Navini's CPE as the access."

The product is being marketed under the 'WisperHotzone' brand.

Roger Dorf, president and CEO of Navini Networks, commented, "The 'network in a box' concept is so popular that we've already seen other operators in other countries show interest. The possibilities for this technology continue to grow."

Navini has the most pre-16e mobile WiMAX experience in the world, including providing the world's largest portable broadband wireless network with Unwired Australia, which has led to numerous pre-standard deployments. "The market is clearly ahead of the standard," added Dorf. With Sprint Nextel's recent announcement, we expect to see continued growth in demand for personal broadband.
