LG Electronics Expands Product Portfolio with Portable Digital Entertainment Devices at 2006 CES

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 / -- Building on its already extensive consumer electronics product portfolio, LG Electronics launched its first portable media center and two portable digital media players in the United States at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). This introduction to the U.S. marketplace demonstrates LG's commitment to delivering a variety of premium, high-performing consumer electronics products to meet the needs of discerning consumers. These devices can be seen at the LG Booth, #8214 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

With a planned second-quarter 2006 introduction, LG's personal digital media players surpass industry standards with high-quality displays and longer playing time. These products provide consumers with advanced portable technologies that incorporate unique design, style and functionality without compromising the user's listening and viewing experience.

LG's portable digital media players and portable media center all have video capability, with large, high-resolution displays to enjoy videos and photos. They also surpass standard playing time of current devices, with battery life of up to 60 hours using LG's breakthrough, high-capacity li-polymer batteries and intelligent power management software.

With their unique design and attractive three-dimensional graphical user interface, these portable players offer a sleek and sophisticated design with easy-to-use features. A unique index finger navigation design offers a comfortable and stylish alternative to the standard thumb-based control. The players also provide colorful and user-friendly selection menus for videos, songs and pictures stored on the device. The digital players also feature intuitive music management software to make it easy to create and control music playlists.

o PM70 Portable Media Center: LG's first portable media center in the U.S., the PM70, can record, store and play, music, videos and photos. The 30GB drive can store up to 7,500 songs, 3,000 music videos, 50 hours of TV/movies or up to 45,000 photos. Its 4.3-inch widescreen display makes it perfect for viewing movies on the go, and its high-quality built-in stereo speakers complement the unit's brilliant screen images. The PM70 incorporates innovative personal information management (PIM) technology, giving consumers the ability to sync with Microsoft Outlook® and store and view contacts and his/her calendar, and even read email without a PC while traveling. With the convenience of direct composite AV line-in recording from TV sources, and easy line-out connections to any external TV display -- not to mention a growing variety of content from online providers -- entertainment is never far away.

o JM53 Portable Digital Player: Although smaller than many cell phones, the JM53 packs quite a multimedia punch. Its 8GB drive stores up to 2,000 songs, 800 music videos or 12,000 photos, providing enough storage capacity for even large entertainment collections. With a powerful battery that supplies a playback time of up to 30 hours, frequent recharging is no longer a concern. The unit can play multiple music files, including MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF, as well as MPEG4 video, and incorporates a 1.77-inch 260,000-color OLED, providing crisp and bright images of music videos and pictures. Further, its slim design (3.9 x 1.9 x 0.55 inches) provides users the flexibility to take it anywhere.

o FM30 Portable Digital Player: Don't let its small matchbook size fool you -- the 2006 CES Innovations Honoree FM30 is loaded with advanced features to enhance the consumer experience. Going far beyond standard portable digital players, the FM30 has a battery capacity that can power up to 60 hours of continuous music playback, reducing the hassle of frequent recharging. With a storage capacity of 1GB, the player can store up to 250 songs, 100 music videos or 1,500 photos. The unit can also play multiple music files, including MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF, as well as MPEG4 video. Its 1.77-inch 260K color OLED provides vibrant images for video and photos. Only 2.4 inches tall, 1.6 inches wide and 0.55 inches deep, the tiny FM30 also comes with an attachment to wear the player fashionably around the neck for people on the go.
