Leviton Expands Industrial Offering with Rhino-Hide's® 49 Series


Little Neck, NY, September 27, 2006 - Leviton Manufacturing Company's new line of Rhino-Hide® 49 Series single-pole connection products is engineered to meet the most exacting requirements in high-amperage power applications subject to punishing environmental conditions and severe temperature extremes. The new line of connection devices is ideal for land-based and off-shore oil drilling rigs. It consists of male and female plugs, connectors, receptacles, insulators and contacts, and accessory products such as clevis pins, receptacle castings, dust cover caps, gaskets and couplers.

Rhino-Hide products are designed to deliver up to 1000 Volts AC or DC power and up to 1135 Amps of continuous power. The products are ideal for any number of demanding applications requiring continuous, reliable high-amperage power where the connected equipment uses delivery cables ranging in size from 313 MCM-777 MCM.

Rhino-Hide products are compatible with other leading manufacturers' single-pole products and readily accommodate retrofit applications. Plugs, connectors and receptacles are color-coded for fast visual identification of circuit and phase connections. Cables attach to the contacts using standard crimp tools available from manufacturers such as FCI/Burndy and Thomas & Betts.

Rhino-Hide insulator housings are constructed of advanced Santoprene(TM) TPV thermoplastic for the utmost durability, reliability and performance. The material is colorfast UV- and ozone-resistant to resist fading and ensure superior performance over the full service life of each device. Insulators are polyolefin based and completely recyclable. Rhino-Hide products are UL Recognized components and are covered by Leviton's Limited Two-Year Warranty.
