New Ultrasonic Level Switch Provides 40-Foot Measurement Span in a Standard 2-Inch Process Mount
Los Alamitos, CA (Oct. 3, 2002) -- The new LU72-74 series Ultrasonic Echo Switch from Flowline provides non-contact level detection up to 10 feet (3m) in a standard 1" mount. Optional 2" mount versions are available with measurement spans up to 25 feet (7.6m) or 40 feet (12.2m). Resolution is 0.125" (3mm) with repeatability of 0.25" (6mm). Both the 1" and 2" versions are equipped with three SPDT relays and 1 to 6 setpoints. Each relay can be configured as a single setpoint alarm, two latched
setpoints for automatic fill and empty control, or two independent setpoints for out-of-bounds alarming. Standard supply voltage is 12-28 VDC with optional 120 or 240 VAC.
Combining microprocessor-based electronics with innovative ultrasonic technology, the LU72-74 series switch is ideally suited for challenging corrosive, slurry or waste liquids and is broadly selected for atmospheric bulk storage, day tank and
waste sump applications. Media examples include sodium hydroxide and wastewater. The PC/ABS enclosure is rated NEMA 4X (IP65) with a rugged Kynar® transducer.
Easy-Cal(TM) target pushbutton calibration with non-volatile memory is provided for all user setpoints. Additional features include digital infinity surface mapping for extreme accuracy and reliability, a small deadband which optimizes filling capacity of
tanks and sumps, fail-safe intelligence with diagnostic feedback for easy troubleshooting, and an incredible 3" beam diameter for applications involving restricted space. Automatic temperature compensation is provided over a process range of -40°F to 160°F (-40°C to 71°C).
