ifm efector's "Set and Forget" Level Sensor Detects Low-Dielectric Plastics with 1-Step Adjustment

EXTON, PA - June 10, 2003 - ifm efector's KN Series capacitive level sensor detects low-dielectric, reduced-moisture materials in plastics processing applications. The sensor's "set and forget" one-step pushbutton setup completely eliminates multiple sensitivity adjustments. The sensor is resistant to high levels of electrostatic discharge and its sensing face can withstand temperatures up to 230°F (110°C). The KN sensor's patented noise immune circuitry ignores interference from motor drives and switching power supplies.

Sensing characteristics are optimized to detect plastic regrind and other recycled scrap plastic materials that have an extremely low dielectric constant and a large amount of air volume. The 30mm diameter sensor can be mounted to a sight glass or installed directly in the process.

Power, output state and marginal signal are indicated on the sensor's LED. For applications with limited visibility, the sensor features a dome LED that is easy to view from a distance. The DC unit features a remote teach function and marginal signal output that will alert a user that conditions have changed or that buildup is occurring.

Models include Micro DC units that are available with a single PNP or NPN output programmable normally open or normally closed. Micro AC units are available with a single normally open or normally closed output. List prices range from $98 to $118 US.
