Leroy Merlin Chooses MetricStream for Quality and EU Product Safety Compliance Management

The Europe-based retailer is proactively taking steps to comply with upcoming EU product safety regulations by leveraging MetricStream's solution to enhance quality and safety compliance across the enterprise and supply chain

LONDON – Leroy Merlin, one of the world's largest Do-It-Yourself (DIY) home improvement retailers headquartered in France, and a subsidiary of the DIY giant, GROUPE ADEO, has selected MetricStream to provide a comprehensive solution for quality and product safety compliance management. MetricStream's solution will help Leroy Merlin streamline, automate, and integrate a range of quality assurance and product safety compliance processes, including quality audits, inspections, product compliance risk assessments, product testing, preventive actions, and curative actions such as the treatment of non-compliance, product blocking, and recall management.

The proposed EU product safety and market surveillance package has both legislative and non-legislative measures to improve consumer product safety and to strengthen market surveillance of products across 27 EU Member States.

Using the solution, Leroy Merlin will gain a complete and real-time view of quality assurance and product safety compliance activities across the enterprise and supply chain. This improved visibility will enable the company to proactively prevent quality issues, and strengthen compliance with regulations such as the EU proposal for Product Safety and Market Surveillance. The solution will also help Leroy Merlin achieve their product stewardship objectives.

With nearly 350 home improvement stores in 13 countries, Leroy Merlin is the founding enterprise of the GROUPE ADEO, an international DIY major consisting of 28 companies with a combined turnover of €16.3 billion in 2013. GROUPE ADEO is the third-largest DIY retailer in the world, the largest in France and in Europe. Leroy Merlin stocks up to 60,000 products in each store, and has about 20,000 employees in France.

"In light of recent regulatory changes such as the EU Product Safety and Market Surveillance draft regulation, we have initiated an in-depth transformation of our quality and product safety compliance processes to strengthen our brand reputation and enhance customer satisfaction," said Franck DRECOURT, IT Director at Leroy Merlin. "We believe that MetricStream is the best fit for us as we embark on our Quality Product Compliance journey due to their unique and integrated approach. Their solution will help us better track quality and safety, and also communicate more effectively with our suppliers about how we can work together to proactively prevent and correct quality and compliance issues."

MetricStream Quality and Product Safety Compliance Management Solution will enable Leroy Merlin to manage and track quality at different levels ranging from upstream processes -- where suppliers are assessed for compliance with regulations, to downstream processes -- where the product lifecycle is tracked for conformance to quality standards. In addition, the solution's Web-based interface will enhance collaboration between Leroy Merlin and their suppliers, as well as third-party testing labs, auditors, and inspectors.

Through the solution, Leroy Merlin will be able to manage compliance to regulations, quality standards, analyze product compliance risks, and evaluate product and supplier conformance. They will also be able to cohesively manage audits, inspections, control plans, product testing, as well as product blocking, withdrawal, and recalls - all on one common platform.

"We are excited that Leroy Merlin has chosen us to enable their quality and product safety compliance initiatives," said Piyush Pant, Vice President Strategic Markets at MetricStream. "It is a testament to the capabilities of our solution that the largest and best known retailers and consumer product companies across the world are partnering with MetricStream, and implementing MetricStream solutions to integrate multiple supplier quality and product compliance processes, improve visibility into the supply chain, and effectively measure supplier performance."
