Edmund Industrial Optics Announces Lenses and Windows for Deep UV & Far IR Applications

September 27, 2002, Barrington, NJ - Edmund Industrial Optics (EO) of Barrington, New Jersey has announced the release of lenses and windows that can be used from the deep UV through the far IR, as well as others designed specifically for use in the IR. Windows, plano-convex and double-convex lenses are available in calcium fluoride (CaF2), vacuum UV grade magnesium fluoride (MgF2), and germanium (Ge) substrates. Plano-convex laser grade zinc selenide (ZnSe) lenses are also available.

For wide-spectrum applications, including cryogenically cooled thermal imaging and Excimer laser applications, CaF2 and MgF2 elements are available with greater than 90% transmission from 250nm to 7µm, and 200nm to nearly 6µm, respectively.

Germanium lenses, with high transmission from 2 to 14µm, are used for FLIR and thermal imaging. Ge lenses are in stock with antireflection (AR) coatings designed for 8 to 12µm, but can also be provided with 3-5µm AR coatings.

Zinc selenide lenses are used in CO2 laser systems, thermal imaging, FLIR, and medical applications and have a transmission range from 600nm to 16µm.

All the lenses have 25.4mm diameters. Vacuum UV grade CaF2, Vacuum UV grade MgF2, and Ge windows are available in diameters from 12.7 to 50.8mm.
