LEDs replace incandescent lamps in elevator applications.

Press Release Summary:

LED lamps are plug-compatible with illuminated switches and indicators. They are offered in single- and multi-chip types to provide continuous light even if one or more emitters fail. Elevator LEDs are available in green (10,000 mcd), white (6,000 mcd), blue (3,000 mcd), yellow (7,000 mcd), red (3,500 mcd), and orange (6,500 mcd). Producing little or no heat, lamps offer built-in, current-limiting resistors and polarity-protection diodes.

LED Lamps for Elevator Applications Raise Performance and Reliability while Lowering Maintenance and Service Calls

TORRANCE, CA -July 22, 2002 - LEDtronics announces its most recent direct incandescent replacement LED lamps for elevator call buttons, control panels, floor indicators, directional arrows and hall lanterns. Elevator LED Lamps integrate the latest LED chip technology and optical grade epoxy for the brightest illumination. LEDtronics LED lamps for elevator applications are plug-compatible with illuminated switches and indicators from major manufacturers. These durable and energy-efficient LED lamps for elevators will appeal to maintenance crews, elevator manufacturers and architects looking to reduce costs, downtime and maintenance calls. LEDtronics Elevator LEDs are offered in two types of LEDs: (1) single and (2) multichip that provides continuous light even if one or more emitters fail. Elevator LEDs are available in the following colors: Green (10,000mcd), White (6,000mcd), Blue (3,000mcd), Yellow (7.000mcd), Red (3,500mcd). and Orange (6,500mcd).

Due to their solid-state construction, LEDtronics LEDs lamps are ideal for the harsh use elevator buttons typically endure - repeated jabs, pokes and stabs, all of which reduce the life of incandescent lamps. LED lamps last 30 - 50 times longer that the incandescent lamps they replace, and their low-current, high-efficiency operation delivers power savings of 80% - 90% or more. Additionally, LED lamps produce little or no heat resulting in lighted panels and indicators that are cool-to-the-touch unlike those lit by incandescent lamps.

LED lamps can be supplied for all common indicator supply voltages from 28V to 220V DC or AC. These products feature built-in current-limiting resistors and polarity-protection diodes to assure that circuit modifications are not required. A typical LED lamp provides an intense beam of colored light. The viewing angle depends on the shape of the epoxy lens and the LED chip's position within the epoxy lens. The intensity and wavelength remain stable over the lamp's lifetime of 100,000-plus hours. (That's 30-50 times longer than incandescent bulbs!) Additionally, LED lamps are environmentally irienaiy because they use 80% to 90% less operating power than standard incandescent bulbs. Think of the savings from reduced power usage, maintenance costs and less machine and operator downtime!
