BivarOpto(TM) Introduces Super Flux Mako(TM) LED Series Offering High Intensity Displays with Wide Viewing Angle and Solid-Array Lighting Capabilities
IRVINE, Calif. -June 4, 2002- BivarOpto(TM), the Bivar Optoelectronics Division of Bivar, Inc., has introduced the new Super Flux Mako(TM) LED Series. Designed in a modular format, these ultra bright LED modules can be fitted tightly together to create a grid-type solid color display. The module design also permits light distribution to fill the complete square area, providing a uniform pattern of light without gaps, while reducing the number of LEDs typically required with conventional LEDs.
Incorporating an integrated heatsink that allows for high current capabilities, the Mako Series features a continuous forward current of 5OmA and average forward current of 30mA at 2.4 - 4.6 VF. The new LEDs are ideally suited for outdoor applications such as traffic signs, stadium scoreboards, moving messages and other large outdoor applications where uniform, high intensity light is required. Rigid 0.200 (5.08 mm) "grid-spaced" PCB pins with integral standoffs allow insertion into industry-standard through-hole circuitry.
Other outstanding features include a small footprint of only 7.62 mm square, wavelengths from 465nm to 630nm, and a wide 60 degree viewing angle. The new LEDs are available in high intensity Blue, Aqua, Green, Amber, and Red (InGaN or AlGalnP), and appear water-clear when off.
