QuickLogic Proves "Seeing is Believing" with VEE/DPO Evaluation Boards for Mobile Device Developers

  • Complete package enables developers of Tablet, Smartbook, Netbook, Cloudbook and Smartphones to easily see the benefits of QuickLogic's VEE/DPO solution platform in their own systems.

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the lowest power Customer Specific Standard Products (CSSPs) leader, today announced the availability of its ArcticLink® II VX2 demonstration boards for the evaluation of the company's unique Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) and Display Power Optimizer (DPO) technologies.

"Since we announced our VX Family last year, mobile device developers have been evaluating VEE/DPO's potential in their own products," said Paul Karazuba, senior product marketing manager at QuickLogic. "These boards accelerate that process by providing a complete package targeting Tablet, Smartbook, Netbook, Cloudbook, Smartphones and handheld device designs so that developers can see the VEE/DPO technologies at work in their own systems."

QuickLogic's VEE technology greatly enhances the viewability of LCD and OLED displays under challenging viewing conditions such as low backlight or bright ambient light through dynamically optimizing video characteristics to provide a natural viewing experience. Used in conjunction with VEE, QuickLogic's recently announced Display Power Optimizer (DPO) technology enables developers to extend battery life by lowering backlight intensity without compromising the viewing experience.

The ArcticLink II VX2 demonstration boards comprise a full display subsystem for connection to either a host PC or to the core CPU of a mobile device. The VX2 boards come equipped with either a 4.3-inch display panel, typical of Smartphone and Mobile Internet Device (MID) products, or a 10.1-inch display like those found on Tablet, Smartbook, Netbook and Cloudbook designs. VX2 boards also include an on-board ambient light sensor and backlight power control, and are preprogrammed to optimize power consumption and viewing experience.

Software support for the demonstration boards includes the ability to choose which display panel to utilize, manual control over backlighting, and configuration of the VEE system block with panel-specific performance parameters. In addition, QuickLogic's technical teams are available to assist developers with optimizing system calibration for custom panels.
