Magnalight.com Upgrades Class Hazardous Location LED Light

Larson Electronics' magnalight.com announced the addition of a more powerful hazardous location LED light with UL 844 Class 1 Division 2 ratings for Groups A, B, C and D.

With 50,000 hours bulb life and solid state design, operators in industrial and military sectors can see benefits in longevity, durability and lower total cost of ownership. Combined with brighter light output than the same fixture with 60 watt T5HO bulbs and drawing only 2/3rds of the current, the 48 watt HAL-48-2L-LED hazardous location LED light is suitable for both high and low voltage applications.

Larson Electronics' magnalight.com announced an upgrade to the HAL-48-2L-LED hazardous location LED light. The HAL-48-2L-LED features LED 'tube' bulbs that deliver more light than same light fixture configured with two 60 watt T5HO bulbs. The LED T-series light bulbs have the same form factor as standard fluorescent bulbs, with the same pin configuration. The LED bulbs for the hazardous location fixture do differ in several ways. The LED tube style bulbs secure 24 watts of high powered LED potted into a aluminum housing and covered with an integrated polycarbonate cover. Solid state technology is much more resistant to vibration and extremes in temperature, making it ideal for demanding industrial and oil field environments. The HAL-48-2L-LED with a combined 48 watts of power draws less current than standard T5 fixtures and carries a UL 844 Class 1 Division 2 rating for Groups A, B, C and D. The HAL-48-2L-LED also carries a UL rating for wet area and saltwater area use.

Plus, we control the specifications, ensuring that our LED bulbs run at the same or lower temperatures than the standard fluorescent bulbs we typically use. We have already done this with our EPL-48-2L-LED explosion proof light and now we have the line extensions for our Class 1 Division 2 lights.

Rob continued, "The final benefit of the Class 1 Division 2 LED light is our ability to configure the light for low voltage applications, as well as the standard 120 to 277 volt applications without any ballasts. Usually, you need a second ballast to step down hazardous location luminaries to 12 or 24 volts. However, we produce LED T-series bulbs that are designed to run natively on those lower voltages. We have a seen a lot of demand for low voltage explosion proof and hazardous location lighting in remote areas, powered by battery banks or generators. Instead of adding a ballast and more weight, we continue to direct wire the LED bulbs. This keeps the fixture lightweight and simple."
