LED Lamps shunt leakage current.

Press Release Summary:

Lamp-based LS Series bipolar LEDs can directly replace incandescent bulbs regardless of polarity. They have built-in shunt resistor to eliminate unwanted illumination caused by leakage current as low as 0.25mA from PLCs, relays and capacitors. Lamps are solid-state devices with 100,000-hour life, shock and vibration resistance, low heat, and low power consumption.

DDP(R) LED Lamps Designed to Shunt Leakage Current

El Segundo, CA. . DATA DISPLAY PRODUCTS, a leading manufacturer of innovative LED solutions, introduces a new series of lamp-based LEDs ideal to replace incandescent bulbs. The LS Series lamps feature a built-in shunt resistor to eliminate unwanted illumination caused by leakage current. DDP0 LS Series LED lamps are solid-state devices, offering 100,000-hour life, shock and vibration LED resistance, low heat, and low power consumption. However, because LEDs are so efficient, current as low as 0.25mA will cause the LED to illuminate dimly. The DDP' LS series lamps incorporate a parallel shunt resistor to bleed-off residual current in the circuit that would otherwise cause a false ON indication.

There are several sources of leakage current in a circuit. Transient voltage from a relay or discharge from a capacitor creates circuit noise. Also, inherent in the design of some programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a triac protective circuit that may supply up to 5mA of leakage current in the OFF state.

DDPO LS Series LED lamps are bi-polar, offering direct replacement of incandescent bulbs regardless of polarity. Prices for DDP0 LS series lamps range from $5.19 to $7.04 at 1,000 pieces depending on size and color. Lead-time is six to eight weeks from DDP's international network of sales representatives and distributors.
