Lumex Introduces Innovative Family of One-Piece LED Fault Indicators for Printed Circuit Boards
PALATINE, IL-Lumex Inc. is introducing its family of PC board fault indicators featuring an innovative one-piece design. These units integrate LED light sources, holders, and mounting pins, through a precision injection molding process. Because of their integrated design, these units require no additional factory-side assembly, and due to their tight-tolerance lead spacing, they are much easier to "auto insert." The result is a dramatically reduced installed cost, compared with conventional assembled fault indicators. The Lumex units are ideal for communications equipment, computer, power management, control system applications, or anywhere a fault or static indication is needed with mounting directly on the circuit board.
Lumex's One-Piece LED Fault Indicators are available in single, dual, triple, and quad LED versions, furnished with T-3 LEDs. An unlimited range of LED colors and intensities is available, since virtually any LED can be used in the injection molding process.
Electro-optical characteristics vary depending on the LED(s) chosen, but a typical green unit has a peak wavelength of 565 nm, with a typical axial intensity of 50 mcd at a forward current of If = 20mA.
Samples of many models are available from stock, with production quantities in 6 - 8 weeks. Pricing varies depending on model specified and quantity ordered. Minimum order quantity is generally in the range of 1,000 - 5,000 pieces each. A typical dual unit with two green LEDs is less than 20 cents each in quantities of 5,000.
