Applied Concepts to Demonstrate New Smart-Drive(TM) Advanced LED Drivers during Display Week 2011

Advanced LED Driver Features Allow User to Customize Driver Software and Store Black Box Data for Diagnostic Purposes

TULLY, N.Y., -- Applied Concepts, Inc. (ACI), a manufacturer of display and power conversion solutions primarily used for flat-panel display back lighting applications, today announced they will unveil and demonstrate their newest product, Smart-Drive(TM) Advanced LED Drivers during Display Week 2011. ACI, a sustaining member of the Society of Information Display (SID), will be showcasing Smart-Drive(TM) in booth #1331 at the 49th SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition, which takes place May 15 - 20, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.

ACI's Smart-Drive(TM) LED driver offers advanced features which allow the user to customize software via download from the ACI website, or a mini CD. Users can tailor driver operating parameters such as dimming curve (i.e. linear or logarithmic), button vs. analog dimming control, and ambient light sensing.

Smart-Drive(TM) LED drivers provide real-time telemetry as well as black-box data capture/retention of performance characteristics (for example, voltage and current, temperature, etc.) for diagnostic and failure mode analysis. Lastly, Smart-Drive(TM) incorporates ACI's patented Mixed-Mode dimming (amplitude/PWM) functionality and provides stable, ultra-wide dimming while generating little to no EMI.

ACI will demonstrate Smart-Drive(TM) LED drivers along with a partner board containing a dimming potentiometer, button control, and ambient light sensing options, which is intended to simplify the LCD display system testing and development process.

"Smart-Drive(TM) is the culmination of years of working closely with our most demanding customers in the military, avionics and industrial market space," says Stephen Soos, VP Engineering for ACI. "In the past, we would routinely develop custom or semi-custom products for our customers by changing many of these parameters to their specifications. Now, Smart-Drive(TM) puts the controls in their hands."

Visitors to ACI's booth at Display Week will be able to download various software to the Smart-Drive(TM) driver on display, to test drive first hand the newest addition to ACI's line of I-Drive(TM) LED drivers.
