Kennedy/Jenks Consultants Installs Disk-Based Disaster Recovery Appliance from Revinetix to Improve Reliability and Speed of Data Backup
SAN FRANCISCO and SALT LAKE CITY - December 21, 2005 - Revinetix, a pioneer in Disk2Disk2Disk(TM) (D2D2D) backup solutions, today announced that Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, a full-service engineering and environmental sciences consulting firm, has implemented a Revinetix' Sentio 2000 backup appliance to protect corporate server data relied upon by the firm's 500+ employees. Kennedy/Jenks' former tape-based backup solution did not provide the reliability nor storage capacity provided by Revinetix' disk-based solution.
With 23 offices in the Western United States, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants serves public and investor-owned water, wastewater, airport, railroad, marine port, food processing, institutional, and manufacturing clients with environmental and infrastructure consulting. The company selected a Revinetix Sentio device to be installed at Kennedy/Jenks' San Francisco headquarters. This backup appliance currently backs-up approximately 750 GB of data.

Palo Alto, California-based ReQuest Technology, a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) for Revinetix, worked with Kennedy/Jenks Consultants to assess corporate storage requirements and implement the Revinetix backup device.
"Kennedy/Jenks was running out of storage space and their existing backup system was not working well," said John Lynch, Sales Manager and Senior Storage Architect for ReQuest Technology. "We recommended that Kennedy/Jenks implement an IP Storage Area Network (SAN) architecture, and convert from its tape system to Revinetix' D2D2D backup solution. It not only fit the bill, but it provided significant OPEX savings over tape. We installed the solution and the client is very satisfied with the results."
The 2U format Sentio 2000 offers up to 1.5TB of raw data capacity and client-side compression to increase capacity to up to 3TB. Like other Sentio models, the device features hot swappable serial ATA (SATA) drive technology and supports scheduled automated backups to the desktop level for every machine connected to a network. The appliance also includes high performance Xeon processors, RAID 5 redundancy, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet controllers, and dual redundant load sharing power supplies together with all the software required to backup an entire network, including full Bare Metal Restore (BMR) software.
Revinetix disaster recovery appliances support removable archive disk technology to enable customers to grow their capacity without the need to upgrade to new, expensive equipment, while storing data off-line and off-site on easily removable archive disk drives. This disk to disk to disk (D2D2D) approach totally eliminates the need to transfer data to serial magnetic tape and provides rapid data access and restore when required. This expanded data handling capability dramatically reduces the amount of time required for data backup and recovery.
