Leading Texas Metrology Distributor Adds More Wenzel CMMS

Dallas-based Crescent Gage & Tool Sales adds new location in Austin, Texas and installs new Wenzel Smart CMM. .
For 37 years Crescent Gage & Tool Sales based in Dallas, Texas has been one the Southwest's leading sales and service organizations for dimensional inspection equipment. Until July of 2007, all of their sales efforts involved Sheffield, Brown & Sharpe and ultimately the conglomeration of all of the Hexagon-related CMM companies. But as Mike Freauf, Crescent Gage president, points out, " Amassing like we've seen in the CMM industry brings with it changes in the dynamics of the manufacturer/sales organization relationship that sometimes doesn't work as well as it once did. As a result, in the summer of 2007 Crescent Gage undertook a new sales and service agreement with Wenzel -Xspect Solutions to sell and service new Wenzel CMMs and provide comprehensive training for the complete Wenzel line here in Texas as well as Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas as we once did for Hexagon.
In addition, we represent the rebuilt and remanufactured machines and services provided by Xspect Solutions. We also provide a new measurement software option with OpenDMIS(TM) for our customer's existing machines.
For a number of years we were Hexagon's number one sales representative organization and we anticipate being able to achieve that level of performance with Wenzel-Xspect Solutions too."
Keith Mills, president of Wenzel-Xspect Solutions says, "Crescent Gage & Tool Sales has made a significant commitment to the Wenzel product line with the installation of three machines at their Dallas location including an X-Orbit 5.7.5, an LH 8.10.7 and an LH 10.12.8 bridge-type machines. In addition, Crescent has opened a new facility in Austin, Texas where they have installed one of our Smart CMMs. Over the years, Crescent has built a very loyal customer base with many of the major medical, oil patch and aerospace manufacturers in the Southwest region and we are confident that the high quality Wenzel CMM products and the integration of the highly preferred OpenDMIS(TM) software will be attractive to the widely varied job shop markets there too."
Crescent Gage & Tool Sales currently has a staff of five sales engineers, three machine and software application engineers, and five inside sales personal at the Dallas headquarters facility. The Austin, TX office is operated under the direction of Dave McDonald.
Wenzel GmbH is the 4th largest CMM builder in the world and manufacturers its CMMs intrinsically accurate, negating the need for the huge error compensation files to achieve quoted accuracies which have become the norm in past years from most CMM manufacturers. The black granite used on Wenzel CMMs is processed in-house at their impressive manufacturing facilities in Germany, not imported from China pre-finished...which is now the industry norm.
