LDO Regulators require no output capacitor.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in 0.9 x 1.2 x 0.4 mm USPN-4 package, SC6501 Series features input range of 1.4-6.0 V, output voltage range of 1.2-5.0 V in steps of 0.05 V, and max output current of 200 mA. Internal phase compensation enables stable operation even without output capacitor. Suited for cell phones and other information communication devices, regulators include on/off function, current limiter rated at 300 mA, and short circuit protection.

XC6501 Series LDO Regulators with a Mounting Area of 0.9 mm x 1.2 mm with No Need for an Output Capacitor

TOREX SEMICONDUCTOR LTD. (Chuo-Ku, Tokyo: President, Tomoyuki Fujisaka) announces a reduction in mounting area of about 44% (compared to previous Torex products) in the XC6501 series of low-supply current, high-speed LDO regulators which don't need an output capacitor.

By incorporating the XC6501 series in a new USPN-4 package (0.9 x 1.2 x h0.4mm), a reduction of about 44% has been achieved over the previous USP-4 package (1.2 x 1.6 x h0.6mm). The output voltage range is 1.2V to 5.0V (steps of 0.05V). Maximum output current is 200mA and the input voltage range is 1.4V to 6.0V. Internal phase compensation enables stable operation even without an output capacitor. Space
saving is achieved through a reduced component count and the use of a small package.
The XC6501 series has both low supply current and high-speed characteristics, and excellent load-transient response.

This series is ideal for use in cell phones and other information communication devices that continue to become smaller and lighter.

XC6501 Series Features

  • Stable operation is possible without an output capacitor

  • Contributes to space saving and component count reduction.

  • High ripple rejection (50dB@f=1kHz, VOUT=2.8 V) at a low supply current (13µA@VOUT=2.8V).

  • Includes an ON/OFF function

  • Includes a current limiter (300mA, typical) and short-circuit protection circuit
