Elo TouchSystems Adds 12.1 Inch LCD to its Family of Chassis Touchmonitors

Family of Chassis Touchmonitors Now Range from 12.1 Inches to 18 Inches

Fremont, CA--September 4, 2003--Elo TouchSystems, Inc., the global leader in touch technology and a business unit of Tyco Electronics, today announces a new 1247L 12.1" Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) rear-mount touchmonitor, extending its range of chassis LCD touchmonitors from 12.1" to 18". The new 1247L has a higher brightness, better contrast and wider viewing angle (300 cd/m², 300:1, 120°x90°) than most 12" LCDs in the marketplace, with up to 800 x 600 resolution at 75 Hz.

The 1247L features a unique injection-molded minibezel and watertight seal; the seal is about 0.5 mm thick -- virtually invisible. The field-replaceable minibezel forms a watertight faceplate seal to keep liquids and dirt away from the electronics. This makes the 1247L ideal for many small form factor public-access and industrial applications. "All of our LCD chassis touchmonitors have a long-lasting product cycle because the touchmonitor enclosure is controlled by Elo's specifications," says Paul Wiener, Elo's marketing manager, "so future panel enhancements are possible without external changes."

The 1247L comes standard with the superior picture quality of IntelliTouch pure glass surface-wave touch technology for finger or gloved-hand operation. For applications requiring monitor sizes greater than 12.1", Elo's SecureTouch vandal resistant surface-wave technology or AccuTouch five-wire resistive technology are available in addition to surface wave.

As with the other LCD touchmonitors in the family, the 1247L has a multilingual remote on-screen display (OSD); multiple mounting options, including rear mount or VESA mount; an auto-switching power supply; and worldwide agency approvals. Electronic files, showing the design in three dimensions, are available to OEMs incorporating Elo chassis monitors.
