All-Weather 12.1" LCD Display Is Sunlight Readable, Submersible

Ruggedized Design Works Outdoors 24/7/365

Scottsdale, Arizona June 10, 2002 - Digital Systems Engineering introduces the PT-AWM All-Weather Monitor, designed for rugged use outdoors or in areas where exceptional environmental protection is required. The 12.1" SVGA color TFT LCD is easily read in direct sunlight but can be dimmed down to almost black for nighttime use. An optional analog resistive touch screen is available for user input. The PT-AWM case is tested to NEMA6P(IP68) submersible standards, is made from tough cast aluminum, powder coated, and is continuous duty rated at 0°C to 50°C (ambient) without special cooling. It can mount in a console or attach to an adjustable ball-joint mount.

"The PT-AWM combines exceptional operating characteristics and a very bright, uniformly lit display with a case designed to stand up to just about anything," says Bob Lyons, VP of Business Development for DSE. "Flat panel stand alone displays need to be where people are at, even if that's in a rock quarry, a wet process area, or on the flying bridge of a yacht in a storm." The PT-AWM is ideal for applications in the marine, industrial, mining, oil & gas, and outdoor gaming industries.

The PT-AWM is the newest product in the PowerTouch(TM) family of harsh duty flat panel LCD touch screen computers and monitors. Other products include the PT-6000 completely sealed NEMA 4/12 PC, and the HATS-5000, certified for Class I Division 1 explosion-proof environments, the PT-LITE sealed flat panel monitor, and the PANEL-PT for in-panel applications. All DSE products come in a variety of screen sizes, are suitable for use in extreme temperatures and are sealed to protect them from environmental contamination. DSE also designs and builds customized computer systems and flat panel products to meet unique OEM requirements.
