Compact pH Meter for Water Analysis
The pH value is not only an important parameter for assessing the current state of water in pools and aquariums but also for many other liquids. The new PCE-PH 16 from PCE Instruments is an easy-to-use and compact pH meter. With the very well readable display and a resolution of 0.01 pH, even minor pH value changes can be easily detected even in bad light conditions.
The meter is powered by three LR44 (AG13) batteries which can be easily replaced if necessary. At ambient temperatures between 0 and 50 °C, the measured values are automatically compensated by the built-in temperature compensation. The light and handy pH meter is therefore not only suitable for measurements on samples in the laboratory but also for outdoor use.
The pH meter can be operated intuitively with just two keys. The HOLD key located next to the ON/OFF key is used to freeze the measured value on the display.
The PCE-PH 16 has a measuring accuracy of 0.1 pH. The correctness of the measurements can be checked very easily. For this purpose, the pH value of special calibration liquids is measured. A set of 2 calibration solutions with the pH values 4.00 and 7.00 is available as an optional accessory. If the displayed value deviates, the pH meter can be adjusted by means of an adjusting screw. The appropriate screwdriver is included in the scope of delivery. After adjustment, the setting is checked with the help of the second liquid gel. If a reliable adjustment is no longer possible, the electrode can be replaced very easily. You can connect any pH electrode with a BNC plug.
In order not to distort the measurement by residues from previous measurements, the electrode must be cleaned after each measurement. The electrode tip is protected from drying out by the soaked sponge in the storage container. This sponge can be soaked with potassium chloride solution with 3 mol/l.
The new PCE-PH 16 is an inexpensive, robust and easy-to-use pH meter, ideal for private users, for control measurements in industry and agriculture, for checking running waters but also for use in schools and other educational institutions.
