Latest Inspection Plus Software Comes with Improved Optimization Routine

Press Release Summary:

Inspection Plus Macro Software is enhanced with SupaTouch technology that provides users with full control of probing cycle feed rates. SupaTouch eliminates the need for manual optimization of on-machine positioning feed rates, strategies and measurement feed rates. The technology reads erroneous readings and automatically commands probe for re-measurement of the surface with an increased speed.

Renishaw to Introduce Updated SupaTouch Tech at IMTS 2018

West Dundee, IL – July 2, 2018 Renishaw, a precision engineering and manufacturing technologies company, will introduce a new version of Inspection Plus, with updated SupaTouch technology, at IMTS 2018 on September 10 - 15 in Chicago.

The many proven benefits of Renishaw’s Inspection Plus macro software are amplified with SupaTouch technology. New usability enhancements added to the optimization routine give users full control of probing cycle feed rates. With this, users can significantly improve cycle times and on-machine measurement results, maximizing the productivity and profitability of their machine tools.

Minimizing probing cycle time is not as simple as just increasing the feed rate. Based on its years of metrology experience, Renishaw knows that to minimize probing cycle time while maintaining machined component accuracy, intelligent optimization is needed.

SupaTouch technology provides this vital element, eliminating the need for manual optimization of on‑machine positioning feed rates, measurement feed rates and strategies. When compared with traditional software cycles, it provides a significant measurement time reduction of up to 60% on CNC machine tools.

It accomplishes this by determining the fastest feed rates a machine tool can achieve while ensuring repeatable measurement. It also decides and implements the quickest probing strategy (one‑touch or two‑touch). If a probe is triggered for a component measurement during machine acceleration or deceleration phases, the measurement result will be inaccurate. SupaTouch technology detects these erroneous readings and automatically commands the probe to remeasure the surface at a more appropriate speed to ensure accuracy is maintained.
