Original Press Release:

PCB Piezotronics Inc. Launches Very High Temperature, Intrinsically Safe Triaxial Charge Accelerometer

Designed for Automotive, Energy and Aerospace & Defense High-Temperature Environments

September 5, 2018 DEPEW, NY - -PCB Piezotronics, Inc. announces the release of a triaxial charge accelerometer designed for use in environments with ambient temperatures up to 900 °F/482 °C. Model EX356A73 is certified as intrinsically safe through the ATEX, CSA and IECEx programs. It is ideal for use in aviation/power generation turbine research & development, nuclear power plant commissioning and vehicle exhaust NVH applications.

The product features a wide frequency range (up to 4,000 Hz with a ±5% tolerance) packaged in a nickel alloy, hermetically sealed housing with three 10-32 coaxial jacks. The model also utilizes a UHT-12 sensing element with the following features:

  • No pyroelectric output provides accurate low-frequency measurements.
  • Reduced thermal noise spikes eliminate false alarms during monitoring.
  • More consistent sensitivity over a wide temperature change provides greater accuracy.
  • Shear mode crystals prevent base strain and transverse measurement errors.

IMI offers various charge amplifiers to support the launch of Model EX356A73, including Models 422E35, 422E36, 422E38, 422E65/A and 422E66/A. For all technical inquiries and application support, please contact Meredith Christman at mchristman@pcb.com or 716-684-0002 x2071.
