FARO Laser Tracker Adds Powerful HighRES CAD/CAM Solution

Lake Mary, Fla. - March 16, 2004 - FARO Technologies, Inc., the market-share leader in the portable coordinate measurement machine (CMM) field, and HighRES, Inc., providers of CAD/CAM integrated 3D digitizing software, announced they have successfully integrated the FARO Laser Tracker with HighRES 3D reverse engineering software modules.

"Our hardware's open architecture, combined with arrangements with cross-platform vendors like HighRES, makes our technology even more accessible to a greater number of facilities that want to improve their products and processes - while using software they're already familiar with," said FARO CEO and President Simon Raab.

FARO will ship the LITE Reverse Engineering Software Module with all new FARO Laser Trackers, thus completely eliminating the need for FARO's customers to import 3D data from stand-alone platforms. It will also significantly increase productivity by allowing users to work directly with several CAD program options.

"It's an ideal addition to our CMMs' current CAM2 Measure 4.0 software," said Ken Steffey, FARO Software Product Development Manager. "The FARO Tracker HighRES package affords our customers the flexibility to use their existing SolidWorks, Autocad, Mechanical Desktop/Inventor, Mastercam or CADKEY application with our measurement system."

Braxton Carter, President of HighRES, Inc., added: "This integrated software solution will deliver an immensely powerful tool to the marketplace. The HighRES plug-in brings major feature enhancements to the hardware device - such as real-time and on-screen viewing of the laser probe's position on the part - into your CAD. It also integrates the complete suite of HighRES features including 3D/2D and cutplane options."

FARO will continue to review proposals from other third-party software companies in order to further broaden the digitizing options for its clients. FARO and HighRES will demonstrate the Laser Tracker at the WESTEC Show (Booths #3832 and #3379, respectively) in Los Angeles March 22-25, 2004.
