Laser Sensors measure distance accurately.

Press Release Summary:

OADM 20 sensors measure distance using triangulation, and output analog or digital signals. One model uses high intensity class 3 laser for applications that have less than favorable target properties, such as highly textured surfaces or outdoor use. Second sensor is highly precise, with accuracy to 4 microns. Both are 50 x 65 x 20 mm, completely self-contained and require no external amplifier. Outputs include 4-20 mA, 0-10 Vdc, and RS485.

Baumer Electric Introduces New High-Intensity and High-Precision Anaolog Laser Distance Sensors

Southington, Conn. -November 30, 2001. Baumer Electric has added two new products to their family of analog laser sensors for applications requiring continuous, extremely precise distance measurement. One sensor features a high intensity class 3 laser for applications that have less than favorable target properties, such as highly textured surfaces, or difficult environments, such as outdoor use. The second sensor is designed to be highly precise, offering accuracy to 4 microns.

Available in a compact 50 x 65 x 20 mm size, all OADM 20 laser distance sensors accurately measure the distance to a target based on the triangulation principal and output the measurement either through an analog or a digital interface. These sensors are completely self-contained and require no external amplifier. The sensors incorporate microprocessor technology to further optimize the dual analog output: 4-20 mA & 0-10 VDC, and the RS485 digital output. Standard analog units will come equipped with both analog current and voltage outputs starting Spring 2002.

Seven standard models are available: 30 to 50 mm measuring range with 0.1mm resolution, 30 to 130 mm measuring range with 0.06mm resolution, 50 to 90mm measuring range with 0.01mm resolution (PSD), 50 to 250mm measuring range with 0.3mm resolution, 70 to 150 mm measuring range with 0.1/0.8mm resolution (PSD), 100 to 500 mm measuring range with 0.5mm resolution, and 200 to 1000mm measuring range with 3.0mm resolution. The majority of the standard units are equipped with a photoelectric array element with a response rate of 10 ms or better depending on the target material. Units are also available that are equipped with a PSD element with a response rate of 1ms or better.

Baumer Electric is a leader in precision sensing. As a manufacturer of all types of high-quality position sensors since 1952, the company offers customer-oriented sensor solutions for every automation need.
