Detroit, MI---LMI Selcom has introduced the DLS-2000 single point laser sensor as an excellent cost efficient alternative for long range precision measurement in quality control environments.

Utilizing Laser Triangulation Principles, the DLS-2000 provides real time scaleable data with a unique 16-bit micro-controller that compensates for changes in light and target characteristics. The sensor is solid design and exceptional measuring range to provide flexibility in a variety of applications including height and width measurement and level measurement of solids or liquids in various industries. Common uses for the sensor include height, distance, part profile, thickness, diameter and run not/eccentricity.

The LMI Selcom DLS-2000 sensor has an exceptional measurement range of 11.81 in. (300 mm). The Charged Coupled Device (CCD) detector allows easy processing and data averaging to develop an accurate resolution down to 0.001" (0.0254 mm). A RS-485 interface permits use of a PC or PLC to manipulate common configuration parameters and provide simple solutions.

The sensor conserves production space and decreases setup time by
eliminating the need for a separate controller. An analog output (0 to 10 VDC and 4 to 20 mA) is also available.

Its small spot size of 0.12 in. x 0.04 in. (3.05 x 1.02 mm) allows for precise targeting of even the smallest components. The compact, self contained device measures just 7.25 in. (184 mm) wide, by 3.88 in. (99 mm) high, by 1.5 in. (38 mm) deep, allowing it to fit and function in smaller spaces than many competitive sensors. The Class IIIa laser sensor has an operating temperature of 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 500°C).

FDA Class IIIa eliminates the need and added expense of requiring a Laser Safty Officer, shielded/hazardous area, warning signs, and also a Power Supply with Led indicator, Key Switch and Safety Shunt like Class IIIb. Class IIIa lasers have
the same FDA regulations as eye safe Class II lasers yet allow for better performance and a slightly higher laser power.
