Laser Scan Head marks contoured surfaces.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring 3-axis design, Contour Galvanometer Laser Scan Head engraves wood, plastics, and metal by vaporizing material underneath scanner. Unit is also suitable for engraving glass because laser causes microscopic cracks and lifts cracked material off surface. While 2-axis laser scan head operates in X/Y plane for use on flat, 2-dimensional surfaces, Contour moves in third axis, thereby allowing it to engrave intricate markings on contoured dimensional surfaces.

Nutfield Technology to Release New Contour 3-Axis Laser Scan Head at SPIE Photonics West Show

Hudson NH — Nutfield Technology ( the leader in galvanometer laser scan head manufacturing has developed a new 3-axis laser scan head. Called the Contour, the new scan head is ideal for use in contoured surfaces marking.

The new laser scan head will make its debut at the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) show.  Called Photonics West, the show is slated for February 4-6, 2014 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Nutfield Technology will be exhibiting; stop by and visit them at booth #410.

SPIE is an international society that advances interdisciplinary approaches to the science and application of light.

Because galvanometer scan head lasers are extremely accurate, this makes them an ideal solution for engraving by vaporizing the material underneath the scanner. Items include wood, plastics and metal. The laser scan head is also ideal for engraving glass because the laser causes microscopic cracks and lifts the cracked material off the surface.

A two-axis laser scan head operates in an X/Y plane for use on flat, two-dimensional surfaces. The Contour 3-axis scan head moves in a third axis thereby allowing it to engrave intricate markings on contoured dimensional surfaces.
