Canon USA Releases New Laser Rotary Encoder


High Durability of M1-H Product Ideal for Factory Environments

[LAKE SUCCESS, NEW YORK, November 20, 2003] - The Semiconductor Division, Encoder Products Group, of Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE:CAJ), has recently announced the addition of its M1-H - a heavy duty 10,000 rpm system encoder designed for factory automation, manufacturing and robotics applications. Ideal applications for the M1-H product include: computer/electronics, imaging systems, medical, optical scanners, semiconductor equipment, speed control and 3-D digitizing.

The M1-H is compact and lightweight, measuring 56mm and weighing only 260g. It features a balanced line driver output circuit that allows for long distance signal transmissions and the system's 780nm semiconductor laser offers maximum output
power of 5mW, with signal error with 25 arc-seconds.
