Laser Projection Equipment shows designs on work surface.

Press Release Summary:

Z-Laser 2D, for woodworking applications, uses software to project full-scale data in red or green light directly onto bed of CNC machining center or assembly work area. By previewing cutting tool path, operator can ensure that blank is properly placed with correct grain orientation. This also eliminates possibility of damaging tooling or fixtures and permits proper pre-placement of part labels. System interprets DXF and HPGL files.

Carter+Cabinetvision+Licom-Alphacam = Versatile Advancements in Laser Projection

Grand Rapids, MI. - Carter Products have announced a new cooperation with major design optimization software vendors CabinetVision and Licom-AlphaCam. This link now enables users of Carter's Z-Laser 2D Laser Projection equipment to create product designs rapidly and then instantly see the outlines of key components directly on the work surface. To accomplish this, the new software sends geometric information on the part involved to the Laser Projection System which projects the full-scale data in bright red or green light directly onto the bed of the CNC machining center or assembly work area. By previewing the cutting tool path directly in the working area, operators can assure that the blank is properly placed with correct grain orientation. This also eliminates the possibility of accidentally damaging expensive tooling or fixtures and permits proper pre-placement of part identification labels in nested base manufacturing operations. Carter Laser Projection Systems can also directly interpret industry standard DXF files and HPGL graphic language files. According to Peter M. Perez, Carter President, "This cooperation is an important step that will simplify the process of CNC production. We feel it will be a major benefit to the woodworking industry." CabinetVision, headquartered in Tuscaloosa, AL, provides comprehensive design and visualization tools for complex product assemblies from complete kitchen cabinet designs to high end architectural casework. AlphaCam, located in Charlotte, NC., supplies sophisticated CAD/CAM design solutions for operators of CNC routers, mills or waterjet cutting equipment. The combination with Carter Products on this product area seems a natural. Carter has been a leading producer of woodworking machinery accessories since 1929. The company pioneered the advantages of guide line lights in the 1950s and laser lights introduced in the 70s.
