Porter-Cable's New Laser Products Give Contractors a Reason to Beam

JUNE 20, 2002 - NEW YORK CITY, NY - Porter-Cable Corporation announced today a new line of laser products during a press conference at New York City's Hotel InterContinental that answers contractors' challenges when it comes to cost savings and efficiency on the job site. "The Rotary Laser (LR1100), Laser Square (LS3100), Laser Level (LL3100), and the Tripod (LT100) all feature breakthrough technology designed to consider all leveling applications," said Porter-Cable Product Manager Jorge Silveira. "By designing accurate laser products, contractor jobs are now more efficient and much more profitable."

The model LR1100 Rotary Laser is perfect for a one-person operation. It features a convenient three-speed remote control with a 100-foot range (radius). The self-leveling feature maintains an accurate laser beam within +/-10°, including a flashing beam that alerts the user when the laser is not level. Two different laser modes, either single beam (dot) or line generation, allow contractors to operate the laser both indoors and outdoors. The single beam mode is visible as far away as 100 feet. Because the Rotary Laser is a complete indoor and outdoor laser, no detector is required.

Additionally, its auto-off feature shuts down the laser after five minutes of inactivity, and the unit attaches to all common tripods. Available in mid-June, the LR1100 is expected to sell for approximately $339.

Porter-Cable's self-leveling model LS3100 Laser Square delivers unmatched precision to the jobsite. This all-purpose layout tool features three beams (top, front, side), making it convenient to plumb, level, and square. Its gravity-leveled pendulum technology, combined with out-of-level detection, eliminates tool status checks and costly errors, while reducing set-up time. This feature is most desirable on busy jobsites where vibration, impacts, and temperature changes are common problems for competitive models. An all-purpose magnetic base accessory allows users to mount the laser to metal surfaces. It can also be strapped or clamped to pipes, doorjambs, and walls. The model LS3100's auto-off feature shuts the tool down after 20 minutes of inactivity and, like the Rotary Laser, the Laser Square attaches to all common tripods. Available in mid-June, the LS3100 is expected to sell for approximately $219.

Unlike Porter-Cable's self-leveling laser models, the LL3100 Laser Level operates with three bubble vials to ensure a level beam. Its three laser beams (top, front, side) are ideal for square, plumb, and level work, versus single pointers. A built-in magnetic base makes it easy for contractors to lock the unit onto metal studs and pipes, and its V-groove aligns with piping.

Machined aluminum construction and a conveniently positioned on/off switch ensure a durable, long-lasting life for the unit. Available in mid-June, the LL3100 is expected to sell for approximately $129.

The final unit in Porter-Cable's laser line-up is the model LT100 Tripod. Its sturdy, all-aluminum structure enhances performance and withstands the rigors of constant jobsite use. Its quick clamps are ideal for easy leg length adjustment (Height: 9" to 64.5"), while the pointed footings keep the tripod secure in soft surfaces. The tripod attaches to most laser products, and includes a shoulder strap for easy portability. Available in mid-June, the LT100 is expected to sell for approximately $99.
