February 2007 - Designed for greatest laser cutting productivity and earning life, the new CL-850 laser cutting system from Cincinnati Incorporated combines 5000W power, 10,000 ipm linear motor drive and industry's strongest platform with the easiest to learn and use control. The Windows XP Professional PC-based control allows virtually anyone PC-familiar to run the CL-850 simply by following intuitive screen menus. The control enables operators with minimal training or experience to achieve superior results. Microsoft's most stable operating system, Windows XP complements the proven up-time reliability and high productivity of Cincinnati lasers.

The CL-850's 5000W GE Fanuc laser resonator zips through 18 ga. steel at 1000 ipm and powers through up to 1-1/8" mild steel plate for great application range. The pioneer at linear-motor-drive laser cutting, with more high-speed machines in the field than any other manufacturer, Cincinnati outfits the CL-850 with a third-generation drive system, again of its own engineering and manufacture. The proprietary linear-motor drives make fast work of large parts or batch processing of smaller parts with accelerations exceeding 2.0G and head positioning speeds of up to 10,000 inches per minute. High precision at high speed makes the CL-850 lasers especially effective on parts with complex geometries and lots of holes and cutouts.

The CL-850's next generation cutting head features standard auto-focus. An improved breakaway feature keeps debris from entering the beam path and allows beam alignment checking without head removal. A new height sensor, insensitive to plasma, enables much higher feedrates on thin metal using N2 or air assist gas.

Cincinnati's unique heavy plate platform construction gives exceptional rigidity and stability against dynamic forces in moving the gantry at high speeds to ensure industry-leading cutting accuracy. The heavyweight platform stands up to the rigors of material handling in a fabricating shop, especially fork lift knocks, to deliver longer service life and industry's highest retained/resale value. The CL-850 has been further shop-hardened by rationalized engineering to reduce and simplify wiring, hoses and connections, make alignments easier, improve fume collection and protectively embed electrical components in the main frame with active cooling.

The CL-850 is available in 5 x 10 and 6 x 12 ft. (2M x 4M) cutting table models, each featuring Cincinnati's quick-change, dual pallets. The dual-pallet design allows one table to be unloaded/reloaded while the second table is being processed. Pallet changes take just seconds, so cutting is virtually continuous.

CL-850 models work big while taking less floor space than other lasers. Both model sizes can be integrated with Cincinnati's new MMHS automated material handling/laser processing systems.
