Trumatic L 3050: Powerful, Fast and Dynamic, Flatbed Laser Cutting Center Features Innovative Drive Technology and a New 5 kW Laser

FARMINGTON, Conn., November 12, 2001 - TRUMPF has introduced a laser cutting center that combines an innovative new drive system with a 5000 watt laser to provide the fastest and most capable laser cutting available.

"The L 3050 flying optic laser machine was engineered from the ground up to provide maximum productivity for both thin sheet and thick plate applications," says Dan Robinson, laser product group manager for TRUMPF Inc. "The strategic use of linear motors offers high acceleration rates and motion system speeds of more than 12,000 inches per minute."

With cutting speeds in excess of 1600 inches per minute, the new laser machine provides unrivaled productivity in thin sheet cutting. The increased laser power and sophisticated new beam delivery also offer today's laser user a new level of capability and consistency for thick plate cutting.

"The L 3050 is also packed with all the features that have made TRUMPF a world leader in laser technology," adds Robinson.

Autolas®, TRUMPF's fully programmable focus system, the DIAS® capacitive height sensing, and four quick change cutting heads allow the laser user to go from thin sheet cutting to thick plate cutting in just a few seconds.

Sprintlas® on-the-fly piercing punches through material up to 1/4 inch thick without stopping the cutting head, a necessity for hole intensive parts. The machine's PC controller is a capable and user-friendly Siemens 840D. Dynamic power control and a comprehensive material processing database round out the package by promising high accuracy in fine detail cutting.

"As with any TRUMPF machine, the L 3050 also promises rock solid reliability and minimum maintenance requirements," says Robinson.

The one-piece design integrates the laser resonator, motion system beam delivery, and pallet changer for maximum day-to-day consistency, with no routine adjustments. The laser resonator features TRUMPF's new "frictionless turbine," the only truly maintenance-free gas compressor available in an industrial laser.

Options include a rotary tube cutter, automated load/unload device, and a variety of storage and retrieval systems.

"Designed to provide maximum productivity across the entire spectrum of laser cutting applications, the L 3050 will give today's laser users a distinct competitive advantage," says Robinson.

TRUMPF is one of the world's largest producers of fabricating machinery and a world market leader in lasers used for industrial production technology. More information is available at: www.us.trumpf.com
