Laser Beam Profilers use FireWire® cameras.

Press Release Summary:

LBA-FW profilers utilize 12- or 14-bit digital FireWire cameras that connect directly to laptop computers without frame grabber card, providing portable beam analysis instrument. Megapixel CCD and pyroelectric cameras are provided to cover spectral range from UV to far IR. Multiple FireWire cameras can operate on one FireWire bus, enabling multiple, simultaneous laser beam profilers. Cameras capture CW and pulsed lasers beams.

Original Press Release:

FireWire® Laser Beam Profiler

Spiricon announces Laser Beam Profilers using FireWire® cameras, called LBA-FW. FireWire cameras connect directly to laptop computers without a frame grabber card, providing a very portable beam analysis instrument. Both CCD and pyroelectric cameras are provided which cover the complete spectral range from UV to far IR. Cameras are either 12 bit or 14 bit digital.

Until now, making a compact and portable Laser Beam Profiler has been frustrated by the camera interface to a laptop computer. A frame grabber card was required for both analog and digital cameras. A PCI to PCMCIA laptop adapter box was a partial solution, but the large and stiff parallel, multiple wire cable, was less than ideal. FireWire® cameras solve this dilemma using a thin, flexible FireWire® cable.

Spiricon FireWire® application provides other advantages. Multiple FireWire® cameras can operate on one FireWire® bus, enabling multiple simultaneous Laser beam Profilers. This is especially useful for single shot, high power lasers, wherein a user wants to capture a single event in multiple locations in the optical train. Cameras easily capture CW and pulsed lasers beams.

Spiricon's LBA-FW uses industry standard magapixel CCDs. Using Spiricon's fluorescent plates, lasers in the UV can be inexpensively analyzed. Spiricon's Ultracal(TM) baseline offset compensation continues to be the industry standard for accurate measurements.

Company Information
For 25 years Spiricon has been an innovator of instruments for laser beam profile analysis. The Pyrocam III pyroelectric matrix array camera is the industry standard for measuring CO2 and other IR and far IR lasers from 1μm to 1000μm. Spiricon's beam analysis algorithms revolutionized the accuracy of CCD camera measurement of visible and near IR lasers, using the patented Ultracal(TM) method of baseline setting. Other leading edge products from Spiricon measure beam focusability, wavefront phase, telecom device characteristics, and industrial laser reliability.

Spiricon continues to be the beam profiler industry leader for customer assistance and service. Regional Application Engineers provide multiple on-site demonstrations every week, enabling a user to see for himself how useful a beam profiler would be in his application. Factory direct application engineers are available in the US for New England, South East, Mid West, South West, and North West regions. Factory international application engineers are available in Germany and in France, with another 27 international distributors.
