Original Press Release:

High-performance fixed-mount scanner from Accu-Sort®

Telford, Pa., Nov. 18, 2003 - Accu-Sort Systems has introduced its Model 11 laser bar code scanner for fixed-mount, standalone industrial and embedded OEM applications. Available in both a standard and a very high density (VHD) version, the new scanner features a "smart" raster pattern that automatically tailors the laser pattern height to the height of the symbol for reading 2D symbols and poorly printed linear bar codes. It can go from a straight line pattern to raster to omnidirectional with a simple menu selection.

With a scan rate of 640 scans per second, the Model 11 reads a variety of 1D and 2D symbols, including PDF417, MicroPDF, RSS and composite codes. Scan modules are easy to program and configure with a simple serial interface that provides fast communication with advanced features and functionality between the scanner and host. Interface options include RS 232, USB and Synapse.

The Model 11 scan modules are easy to program and configure, enabling users to shorten development time and bring products to market even more quickly, even if they do not have in-house technical resources for scanner integration. An optional software developer's kit enables creation of applications using Windows 98, 2000 and XP platforms. And an easy-to-use PC-based utility reduces installation time.

A rugged, durable housing with IP54 environmental sealing protects against the ingress of water and dust, and multiple mounting options increase development flexibility. In addition, Accu-Sort can provide comprehensive training and integration services. The Model 11 will be available in January 2004.
