Laser and Microscope Objectives aid confocal bioresearch.

Press Release Summary:

Violet 405 nm diode laser enables fluorescence excitation of classical nuclear stains, such as DAPI and Hoechst®, and also covers CFP and GFP2, components of FRET pairs CFP/YFP and GFP2/YFP. Lambda-blue objectives offer color correction in blue-green emission range of fluorescent proteins. In conjunction with laser coupling optics, exact registration of excitation and emission planes in confocal microscope is ensured.

Leica Microsystems Inc. Introduces New Violet Laser and Lambda-Blue Objectives for Confocal Bioresearch

Leica Microsystems, the inventor of spectral confocal microscopy, is pleased to introduce a new illumination source and a special series of matching microscope objectives to support the latest trends in bioresearch.

The new Leica 405nm violet diode laser enables fluorescence excitation of classical nuclear stains, such as DAPI and Hoechst®, but also covers CFP and GFP2, components of the FRET pairs CFP/YFP and GFP2/YFP.

Leica Microsystems has also released a series of lambda-blue objectives, which offer exceptional color correction in the blue-green emission range of fluorescent proteins. In conjunction with dedicated laser coupling optics, exact registration of excitation and emission planes in the confocal microscope is ensured, a precondition for FRET, FRAP and photo-activation experiments.
