Dual-Axis Alignment System Improves Manufacturing Efficiency
August, 2003, Newburyport, Massachusetts: Pinpoint Laser Systems now offers a two-axis Microgage, capable of measuring horizontally and vertically at the saime time. This new innovation called the Microgage 2D, allows maintenance and plant engineers to align production equipment quickly and efficiently right on the factory floor. Maintaining alignment of manufacturing systems has proven to increase manufacturing
efficiency, reduce production downtime, and improve profitability. The Microgage is easy to use for alignment and can measure straightness, flatness, parallelism, squareness, and other geometric measurements to 0.001 inch (0.025 mm) over distances of 50 feet.
The Microgage 2D will monitor mechanical misalignment and runout, align rails and slides, position machinery sub-assemblies, measure flatness of moving elements and fixturing, and align bores and drive shaft mechanisms. This alignment tool is compact, machined with solid aluminum housings, and has many mounting locations for attaching to machinery and equipment. With the press of a button, the laser reference beam comes on and the digital display gives a numerical position readout for
determining the exact alignment condition. The Microgage can also be attached to a PC or laptop for collecting, analyzing, and storing machinery alignment information.
