Lancope's StealthWatch to Monitor Network Traffic for Security and Performance at FIRST 2011 Conference

Leading flow-based monitoring solution to provide increased visibility, performance and security for conference network

ATLANTA and VIENNA - FIRST Conference - Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security, network and application performance monitoring, has announced that it will monitor and protect network traffic for the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) annual conference, taking place June 12-17, 2011, at the Hilton Vienna Hotel in Vienna, Austria. Lancope will provide its StealthWatch® flow-based monitoring tool to Cisco's Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) mobile monitoring and networking solution, which will provide on-site network and computer security monitoring.

"First utilized at FIRST 2007, our mobile monitoring and networking solution provides secure, on-site networking for conference attendees," said Gavin Reid, FIRST 2011 Program Chair and Senior Manager, Cisco CSIRT. "The FIRST conference brings together top security professionals to share ideas on how to improve global computer security, and our mobile solution combines the leading network and security technologies they need to confidently stay connected while out of the office."

Reid added, "NetFlow is an extremely useful and underused tool for maintaining, securing and troubleshooting enterprise networks. Lancope's StealthWatch System was selected for our mobile rack because it captures the full power of NetFlow without requiring extensive time or resources from IT teams. In-depth flow data, application analysis and an easy-to-understand, graphical user interface make StealthWatch a versatile tool for monitoring and responding to a wide variety of incidents."

Lancope's StealthWatch delivers in-depth network visibility across physical and virtual environments by leveraging NetFlow and other flow data from existing routers and switches. By unifying security, network and application performance monitoring in a single platform, StealthWatch eliminates network blind spots, cuts network and security management costs and dramatically reduces the time from problem onset to resolution.

StealthWatch fills in the gaps between other network and security technologies to provide higher levels of security, availability and performance. The system uncovers not only the sophisticated, zero-day attacks that often bypass perimeter defenses, but also internal threats such as policy violations, network misuse, unauthorized access, misconfigurations and data leakage. StealthWatch is scalable to meet the needs of even the largest networks, analyzing up to 1.5 million flows per second.

FIRST is a non-profit organization that brings together CSIRTs from more than 200 corporations, government entities, universities and other institutions around the world. In addition to providing StealthWatch for Cisco's FIRST 2011 mobile networking and security solution, Lancope will also exhibit the product at conference table #11.

"We are honored to be collaborating with these two powerhouses - FIRST and Cisco - to help improve the global threat detection landscape," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "In today's dynamic technology environment, the status quo and conventional security tools are no longer enough to keep networks secure and intellectual property protected. Lancope is therefore leading the charge to vastly improve the way we address current and future security challenges, leveraging flow data from existing systems to provide a massively scalable, end-to-end view of any and all traffic on the network."
