SCHOTT Introduces RestrictView

o Permits viewing through one pane, but not two

o Suited for hospital, hotel, commercial, or security applications

At American Institute of Architects National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami, Booth 1217 - SCHOTT North America, Inc. today introduced RestrictView laminated privacy glass, a new patented glass product designed to prevent viewing through two pieces of glass while permitting viewing through one piece. RestrictView glass will allow a nurse to look clearly through door or side-lite glass into a patient's room. The patient can also see the nurse. A patient cannot, however, look through his door glass into the rooms on the other side of the corridor. These will appear black.

RestrictView laminated privacy glass will be displayed for the first time anywhere in the world at the AIA National Convention & Design Exhibition at SCHOTT North America's booth #1217.

In office, hospitality and commercial applications where RestrictView glass is used, passersby would be able to see into a conference room or courtyard, but could not see through to rooms, apartments, or offices on the other side. Meanwhile, people standing between the two panes of RestrictView glass would be able to see both sides - because they would only be looking through one pane, not both.

"We were challenged to find a unique solution to privacy in sensitive areas and high security settings," said Donald Press, General Manager for SCHOTT's North American architecture group. "Our R&D team has delivered a product unlike anything currently available the market."

RestrictView glass is a laminate of SCHOTT AMIRAN® anti-reflective glass with a proprietary polyurethane interlayer. It can be made in a variety of formats, including approved attack specification formats for psychiatric hospitals and prisons. It is available in sheet sizes up to 44 inches x 44 inches.
