1. Background and Introduction
Scientific data is usually obtained through measurements. The competency of a laboratory is evaluated by the accuracy of its testing data. For the same test item, distinct test principles or test methods may be used by the test operators. However there is no one uniform standard by which the accuracy of the test results can be evaluated. Some laboratories which own the testing instruments to test OTR and WVTR of the films also face this problem. It has become an obstacle in R&D, quality control and standard drafting for the film manufacturers. By now, most of the laboratories evaluate their test results through inter-laboratory comparisons.
Today the testing technology and testing instruments for barrier properties are developing dramatically. In order to provide a valuable reference value for data accuracy, Labthink will launch its bi-annual permeability proficiency service since 2014. Some experts in packaging industry are invited as our consultants to guarantee the accuracy and fairness of this event.
