New Sartorius Premium Series of Balances

Cubis: the new benchmark in laboratory weighing

January 30, 2009, EDGEWOOD, NY, USA-The Sartorius Cubis premium balance series is the dawn of a new era in technology and precision in laboratory weighing. Cubis features a modular design and can be custom-configured and adapted to the changing requirements of different applications. From simple weighing to management of complex sequences using the User/Password Management feature, Cubis meets advanced weighing requirements at the most sophisticated level.

Unique Features/ Benefits:
oThe first balance in its class with automatic leveling: Q-Level provides the option of fully automatic, motorized leveling at the touch of a key (not available in the MSE unit). Leveling could not be easier or more convenient than this.
oThe first toploading analytical balance with a motorized draft shield: This enables the balance to be adapted to any work environment. Besides being motor-driven, the DI draft shield has a built-in ionizer that eliminates interfering electrostatic charges on samples, or on sample containers, at the touch of a key.
oThe first five-digit toploading lab balance: The first standard toploading semi microbalance featuring full resolution all the way up to 220 g. As a result, its footprint takes up to 25% less space compared with conventional lab balances of the same resolution.
oThe first lab balance with Q-Pan off-center load compensation: Cubis is the first lab balance that compensates for errors caused when a sample is off-centered on the pan. And Cubis has an extra-large weighing pan. This means reliable and repeatable results in a larger working area.

With finely graduated weighing capacities of up to 12 kg and readabilities from 0.01 mg to 0.1 g, the Cubis balance series is especially suited to nearly any laboratory weighing application. All balances incorporate second-generation Sartorius proprietary monolithic weigh cells. These new, compact cells make it now possible to offer a space-saving, top-loading and full-resolution semi-microbalance with a readability of 0.01 mg all the way up to a capacity of 220 mg. Moreover, this semi-microbalance can be optionally equipped with a motorized draft shield.

From simple weighing to a complex network
A choice of three different display and control units covers the widest variety of laboratory applications:
The MSA is ideally suited to meet sophisticated requirements, such as those of the pharmaceutical industry. It features a high-resolution touch screen with a TFT graphic display.
The MSU display and control unit has been designed for users who need to perform a range of simple to complex weighing procedures.
The MSE display and control unit features a high-contrast liquid-crystal display with easy-to-understand menu guidance.
Thanks to the entirely new Q-Guide user interface, one balance can be used by several persons who have similar or even different tasks to perform in the lab.

Technology for today and tomorrow
Cubis provides a full range of data communication options for PC and data networks thanks to its integrated Q-Com package. This includes three standard data interface ports, an Ethernet (not on the MSE display and control unit), a USB port for a computer and an RS-232C for Sartorius accessory equipment (e.g., Sartorius printer).

In addition, one optional port can be selected which means up to four interface ports can be simultaneously used. An SD card is available for transferring weighing data and user or task profiles from one Cubis to another, without having to connect the balances directly to a computer.

The modular design of every Cubis laboratory balance means that technological innovations can be implemented quickly and precisely as needed. As a result, Cubis will meet both the contingencies in the laboratories of today and the expanded uses of tomorrow.
