New Vivo! Prints Rolls of Photo-Quality Labels at High-Speed

Building on its successful line of digital color label printers, QuickLabel Systems has significantly enhanced its offerings for printing primary product labels with the introduction of the Vivo!, a high-speed, direct-digital, short-run label printer that produces photo-quality labels on roll-fed stock.

The Vivo!'s cost per label rivals the cost of flexographic label printing, while its direct digital high speed printing decreases the turnaround time for label jobs, according to the company. The new electrophotographic digital label printer is the result of three years of research and development.

The company believes the Vivo! will "finally open doors to printing retail display labels on-demand" for "packaging products on a Just-in-Time basis," according to Eric Pizzuti, General Manager of QuickLabel Systems. "Businesses are now able to take rush orders that require custom packaging - private label, store brand, and foreign market orders - and can print those special product labels in-house as well as ship the products to market, all on the same day the label artwork is created," said Pizzuti.

Cost-Competitive Short Run Label Printing
The Vivo! is designed for moderate to high volume "short run" label printing jobs. It is cost-competitive with flexographic and other offset printing as well as other direct digital printing presses on label jobs of up to 15,000 labels per batch, based on a 4" x 6" size label with a medium amount of ink coverage, according to company research.

The Vivo!'s print is glossy, vibrant and highly durable, abrasion-resistant, fade-resistant, moisture-resistant, and solvent-resistant. The Vivo! prints labels using an electrophotographic process similar to laser printing, but incorporates reliable and efficient LEDs (light emitting diodes) rather than lasers. Its printing supplies consist of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black-colored toner and rollstock labels developed for accurate color reproduction on the Vivo!, and are provided by QuickLabel Systems.

Initial Customer Response
Customers who participated in the company's Vivo! beta-testing program were favorably impressed with the cost-effectiveness and productivity of the printer.

Kevin Timothy, President of Park Premium Beverages, Claymont, DE, described the factors that influenced his decision to purchase a Vivo!. "In deciding to purchase the Vivo! my major factor was ... that our productivity will pay for the machine within 3 months. The machine will have paid for itself in 3,000 cases," said Timothy.

Timothy went on to describe the importance of label print quality to his promotional product business, stating: "Quality for Park Premium Beverages is of utmost importance. Our position as a premium product provider calls for us to want the best possible label on the bottle and we've found that the Vivo! printer provides that quality at a reasonable price."

New Product Competency for QuickLabel
Pizzuti said, "the Vivo! adds a new competency to QuickLabel's line of label printers, which until now have focused on applications for printing secondary product labels and automatic identification labels. The Vivo! is designed for primary product label printing applications.

"From private label packaging to just-in-time production for packaging multiple SKUs, the digital printing of the Vivo! delivers the combination of photo-quality output with production quantity throughput of labels that satisfy Just-in-Time production demands, all at a price point that makes the system a cost-effective tool for packaging production," continued Pizzuti.

The Vivo! will be sold at a list price of $24,995 USD by QuickLabel Systems' direct sales force in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK, and by authorized resellers in the rest of the world.
