L-com's Right Angle Category 6 Ethernet Cables Win TMC's 2011 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award
NORTH ANDOVER, MA - L-com, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has won the 2011 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award put on by TMC. This award recognizes the most innovative new products that facilitate voice, data, and video communications, or combinations of them. This is L-com's first time winning this award.
The award was specifically given for L-com's Category 6 right angle Ethernet cable assemblies. These cables use patent-pending technology to ensure the twisted pairs within the cable do not untwist in the sharp right angle at the connector end, thus passing Category 6 10/100/1000Base-T qualifications. Sharp bends in Ethernet cables at the connection point are one of the biggest factors in slowing the high-speed Ethernet connection, and can occur at drop points and in crowded wiring closets.
In January, 2012, Electronic House Magazine awarded its own Product of the Year honor to L-com's Category 5e right angle Ethernet cables. Both awards reflect the ingenuity of the right angle technology in unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) and shielded twisted-pair (STP) cabling. The original right angle design was debuted by L-com in 2010 and has since inspired a growing list of right angle products, including several USB and Audio/Video cables.
