Compact 16-port KVM Switch Offers Reliable Support for Sun and PC Servers

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - September 30, 2002 - Expanding its intelligent KVM switch offering for multi-server enterprise datacenters, Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today released a compact, 16-port KVM switch that can be mounted in a 19-inch, 1U rack.

The FS-1016MT controls up to 256 Sun and PC servers (cascaded) without encountering system resets or signal failure. The switch can be powered independently through an internal AC power supply.

A dedicated microprocessor maintains the independent status of each system's keyboard and mouse. This enables seamless, reliable switching between servers with different operating systems. It also enables simultaneous, multiple system start-up from a single power switch at the main unit or keyboard.

Switching among connected servers is controlled either by the front panel's switches or the On-Screen Display function. In Hot-Key Mode, users can assign names of servers and select them using the cursor keys. An auto-scan mode monitors the connected systems at user-selectable, pre-defined intervals.

A single, 15-pin d-subminiature connector on the back of the unit facilitates the connection of mouse, video and keyboard connections. Additionally, the front control panel is separable from the main unit, allowing easy front panel access while maintaining cable connections undisturbed in the rack at a variable depth of 200mm to 900mm.

The FS-1016MT has available firmware downloads for future enhancements. It supports display resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200; cabling distances of up to 5 meters between switches, and between computers and switches; and all PS/2 and USB-compatible pointing devices and keyboards.

Available immediately, the FS-1016MT has a manufacturer's suggested resale price of $1,288.00.
