Raritan Has Broadest KVM-over-IP Portfolio for Data Centers with Addition of 8- and 64-Port Switches

o Remote and 'At-the-Rack' Server Management Supports any Data Center Environment

SOMERSET, N.J., Feb. 11 -- Raritan today announced the expansion of its award-wining Dominion® KX II portfolio with two new enterprise-class KVM-over-IP switches -- optimized to meet the needs of data centers requiring high levels of reliability and performance.

With the addition of the eight-port Dominion KX II-108 and the general availability of the industry's highest port density KVM-over-IP switch -- the 64-port Dominion KX II-464 -- Raritan's broad portfolio meets the needs of server rooms of all sizes, from eight to thousands of servers.

"There are real advantages in a single KVM-over-IP switch family," said Henry Hsu, Director of Enterprise Products at Raritan. "Our product line can support almost any data center scenario, so that distributed servers can be managed easily from one IP address. The eight-port model is also useful in managing servers in branch offices because it eliminates the need for on-site maintenance. By using the right combination of Raritan products, companies can increase productivity and operations uptime, reduce KVM life-cycle costs and rack space, and manage growth."

The KX II enables remote installation of software, file transfers, data back up and diagnostics with its Universal Virtual Media feature and can control power to servers with optional remote power units.

The Dominion KX II's advanced productivity features include a number of industry firsts. Its unique Absolute Mouse Synchronization(TM) feature eliminates time-consuming extra steps to adjust mouse settings for each target server. For high availability, all models come with dual power supplies with automatic failover -- the only KVM-over-IP switch with this feature. Another first is a browser-based user interface for both remote KVM management and for at-the-rack server management -- providing a consistent user experience. The KX II also provides the industry's highest remote video resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels) and tight mouse synchronization performance.

Dominion KX II 464 Helping Washington D.C.-based Association

The American Speech Language Hearing Association uses the Dominion KX II 464 to manage its data center comprised of mostly Dell and HP servers. After a competitive analysis of KVM switches, the organization selected Raritan's offering based on performance, security, and return on investment.

"Raritan has the industry's only 64-port KVM switch," said Chris Parks, Network System Engineer at the Association. "As a result, its high port density enables me to have a single point of access to all our servers. I use the KX II on a daily basis, especially when I run out of RDP sessions or when I need BIOS access. It provides one of the best mouse and video synchronization in the industry and a very intuitive and easy-to-use interface."

More on the Dominion Series and Pricing

The self-contained Dominion KX II comes with all key features, including authentication and Web-access, built into the appliance. With KX II's BIOS-level access, servers are accessible even if a server's operating system is not working or the network interface card has failed. Advanced security features include: 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) or RC4 encryption of keyboard, video and mouse data, strong password support, and built-in authentication capabilities. Dominion KX II integrates easily with third-party AAA servers, and SNMP and Syslog event management systems. All KX II models are CommandCenter® Secure Gateway Certified, so that multiple Dominion switches and connected servers can be managed from one IP address.

The entire KX II product line -- which now ranges from 8-ports to 64 ports -- is available worldwide through Raritan's distribution channels. The Dominion KX2-464 is priced at $8,495 (U.S. List Price), and the Dominion KX2-108 is priced at $1,995 (U.S. List Price). Visit www.Raritan.com/KVM for more information on the Dominion Series.

The new models join the 32-port KX II-432 model, which won the 2008 InfoWorld Technology of the Year Award for KVM Switches raritan.com/about/pressreleases/. Other recent recognitions for the KX II include: Network Computing-UK Datacenter Product of the Year finalist, high review scores in NetWorld-Poland, and a 2008 IT Product award from Computerworld-Czech Republic.
