Kontron AG Books Major EUR 15 Million Order in Russia
Eching, Germany, July 16, 2008 - Kontron AG, one of the world's leading manufacturers of embedded computer systems, is further expanding its promising emerging markets business. The company has received a major order in Russia worth EUR 15 million. As a partner of Siemens AG - the related agreements have just been signed - Kontron will supply complex embedded computer systems as part of the overall project to establish new central distribution centers for Russia's entire energy system. The Russian state is the customer of the overall project. The aim is to make the first deliveries as early as the third quarter of 2008, while the installation phase is scheduled for completion by 2011. Kontron will also continue to be engaged in the project for several further years as a result of maintenance agreements.
Along with applications in telecommunications, medical technology, and the infotainment sector, the energy sector is one of Kontron AG's strongest growing vertical markets. Last year the company already generated 14 percent of total revenue of EUR 446.5 million in this promising area.
