Kontron Adds New Dimension of Scalability and Robustness to Servers and Modules with the New Intel® Xeon® Processor D-1500 Product Family


Augsburg, Germany – Kontron, a leading global provider of embedded computing technology (ECT), announces that beginning in 2016, new servers and modules will be based on the new Intel® Xeon® Processor D-1500 Product Family.



The first set of new products from Kontron includes the COM Express COMe-bBD6, the Kontron VPX server blade VX3058, and SYMKLOUD based on Intel® Xeon® Processor D-1500 Product Family, with more to follow in 2016. Kontron's Xeon® based products provide various enhancements in form factor, versatility, high availability and robustness. Aside from outstanding performance per watt ratio, these new products will maximize the server class on a small form factor. In addition to having servertype architecture, server class will also include Xeon® Processors Class Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) memory features. Kontron's new products will be available with 2 and up to 8 cores, as well as 2 ports of 10GbE Intel® Ethernet, strengthening the powerful connectivity options.



Robustness has always been a strong Kontron development initiative and with these new cores, extended temperature and longevity are further increased. One of the feature highlights is the improved floating point and vector calculation performance. Additionally, these products come with broad software support including Windows and Linux.



The Intel® Xeon® Processor D-1500 Product Family is Intel®'s 3rd generation 64-bit SoC and the first based on Intel® Xeon® processor 14nm silicon technology that brings intelligence and Intel® Xeon® processor Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) to the edge. With integrated PCH technology and Intel® Ethernet all in a BGA package, the Intel® Xeon® Processor D-1500 Product Family provides system design simplicity for applications where space is a premium.
