HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 22 // -- KOMA is eager to introduce its new optional product wrap, an industry first, to building professionals allowing its trim products to arrive to a jobsite clean, unsoiled, and undamaged. This new product wrap continues to define the company as an innovative leader in the wood alternative trim industry by creating new products and solutions for building and construction professionals.
"The market has convinced us that there is not a builder that wants their trim carpenter or painting crew spending one minute cleaning mud and footprints off trim," said Patrick Shabal, marketing and sales manager for KOMA Trim Products.
The process of the product wrap is quite extensive where after master sheets are transformed into dimensional boards, the trim stock is sent through state-of-the-art machinery, which is when the plastic wrap is applied. The wrapped trim then goes through a secondary machine where the plastic film is heat shrunk to produce a tight package. In general, two boards per pack translates to the most comfortable handling. The resulting system assures that the trim product remains bright white from production to installation.
A recent 100,000 square foot expansion of its Huntsville, Ala. plant enables increased service levels, opportunity for operational efficiency, and support for market driven innovation and product development. Since the expansion, many new product lines have launched, creating a buzz throughout the industry. Patrick Shabal, sales and marketing manager explains, "In 2006, we changed the name of our business from KOMA Trim Boards to KOMA Trim Products. The bulk of our business has been linear boards, but now our customers are expecting new innovations that favor more ornate levels of detail and economical installations."
KOMA's new product wrap supports KOMA's mission to be an innovator and creator of uses of wood alternative trim applications.
